Summary
In Chapter 23, Europe goes through a development of drastic changes. Religious amends were made such as the Protestant Reformation and the Roman Catholic Reformation. These reforms lead to never before religious disunity between Europe. These dissensions then lead to a series of wars called the "Thirty Years War". The states came together in peace by the "Treaty of Westphalia". Another major change in Europe was the concept of Constitutionalism and Absolutism which came upon due to no supreme political authority. These concepts are still used in influenced areas. Absolutism lead to one of the greatest rulers in France, Louis XIV. He was looked upon as role model for absolutism. An economic alteration was the idea of capitalism. This idea was created by the expanding population and economy in Europe. The capitalism then also caused a social change.
